Your use of the GOI Digital Academy is subject to these terms.
These Terms & Conditions establish the framework governing access to and use of the Global Ophthalmic Institute's digital learning environment, educational materials and associated resources.
By creating an account, enrolling in a course or using the GOI Digital Academy and its associated resources, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
Institutional Overview & Scope
Welcome to the Global Ophthalmic Institute (“GOI,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
These Terms & Conditions govern your access to and use of the Global Ophthalmic Institute's self-hosted digital learning platform located at globalophthalmicinstitute.org.
The terms apply to users who create accounts, enrol in courses, access educational materials, participate in institutional learning activities or use the clinical resource library and other associated digital services.
By accessing or using the platform, you agree to comply with these Terms & Conditions and any applicable policies or notices referenced by them.
Clinical & Educational Disclaimer
All educational modules, video lectures, diagnostic protocols and downloadable toolkits provided by GOI are intended for professional upskilling, continuing clinical education and capacity building.
Not Independent Medical Licensing
Completion of GOI courses or receipt of digital completion certificates does not, by itself, grant independent medical licensing, legal accreditation or authority to practise medicine or another regulated health profession in any jurisdiction.
Clinical Decision-Making
GOI educational content is intended to support learning and professional development. During patient care, applicable local laws, health authority guidance, institutional protocols and the professional judgment of the responsible clinician must take precedence.
GOI educational materials are not a substitute for patient-specific assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning or professional clinical judgment.
User Accounts & Platform Conduct
Account Registration
You must provide accurate and reasonably complete information during student or faculty onboarding. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for activity conducted through your account.
Academic Integrity
Students are expected to complete assessments and interactive quizzes honestly and independently, except where collaboration or assistance is expressly permitted by the relevant course or instructor.
Prohibited Conduct
Users must not upload malicious code, attempt to obtain unauthorised access to systems or databases, interfere with platform security, distribute spam, or otherwise misuse institutional community or learning features.
Intellectual Property & Asset Usage
The GOI Digital Academy contains educational, clinical, technical and institutional materials that are protected by applicable intellectual property laws and agreements.
Copyright Protection
Course structures, video assets, brand elements, written materials and other content hosted on the platform are owned by GOI or used under rights granted by contributing clinical, academic or other partners.
Permitted Downloadable Use
Toolkits, reference guides and clinical protocols made available through the Resources Library may be downloaded and printed for direct clinical reference, institutional teaching and non-commercial educational use, subject to any specific licence or notice accompanying the material.
Prohibited Media Extraction
Video lectures and protected streaming content may not be extracted, copied, re-hosted, redistributed, sold or commercially exploited without appropriate authorisation.
Faculty & Instructor Submissions
Clinical educators contributing materials to the GOI platform retain intellectual ownership of their original works, subject to any separate agreement governing those works.
By submitting material for consideration, an educator grants GOI a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, display and distribute the approved material for GOI's educational and institutional purposes, subject to the terms agreed with the contributor.
Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, GOI, its leadership, advisory board and academic contributors shall not be liable for losses or damages arising from circumstances outside their reasonable control, including platform downtime, technical interruptions, connectivity failures or unauthorised access.
Educational materials are provided for professional learning and capacity-building purposes. Users remain responsible for how they apply information obtained through the platform and for complying with applicable laws, professional standards, institutional policies and clinical requirements.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude or limit liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by applicable law.
