The Global Ophthalmic Institute was founded to confront a critical reality in global public health: the profound disparity in access to high-quality ophthalmic education. Traditional training models and educational pipelines frequently fail to reach the regions bearing the highest burden of avoidable blindness and visual impairment.

Born out of a clear calling to serve communities in need through humanitarian eye care, the institute was established as a borderless clinical academy and non-governmental organisation.
